Look, here is a terrible truth that blisters my soul in its keeping: My intense dislike of the Cowboys fed my attachment to the Marion Barber joke, which somehow developed into a strange, perverse attachment to Marion himself, which, in turn, quietly became the team as a whole. I anticipated their games until I forgot to remember whether or not I was pretending anymore. Now their season is over, and like some sort of horrible Ouroboros, I have no doubt I'll begin the next in much the same, bitter fashion. But for today, oh today, I felt what was probably sadness at the fumblings of Tony Romo, the limited field time, athleticism, and overall "finish" of #24, and even the whole ham Wade Phillips ate during the two minute warning. Not Wade Phillips, though. Fuck that guy.
